We are excited to welcome Lauren Smith to the 2012 Uncork the Uplands event! She will be mixing up some amazing cocktails with wines from along the trail!

Meet Lauren Smith

Lauren is currently the head bartender and manager of marketing and special events at the Fireside Bar & Grill. She spent two years working in wine in New York City at Riposo 72 a wine bar on the upper west side.  Lauren refuses to call herself a mixologist, because being a bartender suits her just fine. She loves the art of pairing food & wine and enjoys creating new flavors by designing cocktails with wine, beer and spirits. She learned all of the foundations of bartending from her father Neil, and has enjoyed developing her techniques and talents at the Fireside Bar & Grill over the past five years. Lauren works to make mixology and bartending accessible, using fresh ingredients, and simple but delicious recipes that anyone could replicate at home. “It’s important that people can understand what you are trying to do, or they aren’t going to enjoy the experience.”  Lauren writes about her bartending experiences on her blog “Bartending the Bible Belt.”
